About this course
The systematic literature review has become a cornerstone of evidence-based scholarship, yet its rigorous execution remains poorly understood by most who attempt it. This course provides methodologically complete training in systematic review design and meta-analytical synthesis, following PRISMA 2020, PROSPERO, and Cochrane guidelines. Participants construct reproducible search strategies, apply validated quality-appraisal instruments, and synthesize findings using both narrative and statistical methods — producing work of publishable standard in Q1 and Q2 indexed journals. Learning outcomes • Design and register a systematic review protocol with PICO/PEO/SPIDER questions and explicit eligibility criteria • Execute comprehensive multi-database searches using Boolean logic, MeSH terms, and discipline-specific thesauri • Apply validated appraisal tools (CASP, JBI, Newcastle-Ottawa, Cochrane RoB2) to assess study quality • Synthesize heterogeneous findings using narrative, thematic, and quantitative meta-analytical methods • Interpret effect size, heterogeneity (I²), and publication bias via funnel plot and Egger's test • Produce a PRISMA 2020-compliant systematic review manuscript Assessment & deliverables PROSPERO-registered protocol with documented search strategy; a completed PRISMA 2020 flow diagram; a critical-appraisal exercise (10 studies); a draft manuscript Introduction and Methods (3,500 words).
